SmileSaver Integration Complete

 

As you will recall, in May 2005 SafeGuard® acquired SmileSaversm Dental & Vision in California. The integration has now been completed and we’ve created this newsletter to provide important information about this transition.

 

We want you to know we value your continued participation in the SmileSaver benefit programs and hope you are pleased with the support and service we provide. You can be assured that you will receive no less after this transition … the SafeGuard organization is looking forward to working with you.

Important Information …

 

SafeGuard & SmileSaver provider networks combined. SmileSaver members now have access to the entire SafeGuard provider network. If one of your employees or a dependent is registered in an office that did not join the SafeGuard network, they have been reassigned to the nearest network provider and a letter of explanation was sent. They do have the option of selecting another SafeGuard dentist, should they choose to do so.

New billing schedule. There was no billing statement mailed during the month of April 2007; and the June statement will be mailed the first week of June. In the past, billing statements were issued approximately five weeks in advance of the month of coverage. After June 2007, statements will be sent the first week of the month of coverage, which means payment will be due upon receipt. This rescheduling will allow more time for eligibility updates to be entered, giving you more up-to-date information on your statement.

New plan documents. The plan documents you order from now on will have the SafeGuard logo and the plan names will be slightly different, but the benefits are the same. The plan schedules, Evidence of Coverage, privacy notice, and enrollment form will be provided in a booklet (“Enrollment Kit”) to make the enrollment process more efficient.

New website – www.safeguard.net. As you have discovered, the SmileSaver website at www.smilesaver.com was removed from the Internet and everyone is being redirected to the SafeGuard website. As a result of this transition, you now have access to your account through SafeGuard’s interactive website. You can update your eligibility, order plan materials, and review your monthly statement. Your enrolled employees also have access to this great tool – they can change providers, print an ID card or email our Customer Service Department. Members may register online; to register for your group account, please contact your Account Manager at the number below.

No member communications will be sent regarding this transition. It is important that you communicate any relevant information to your enrolled employees. Members who access the old SmileSaver website will be redirected to a newsletter much like this one with information to help make this transition easier. ID cards. New ID cards will not be issued; your enrolled employees will be able to use their existing card to access care after this transition.
