SmileSaver Integration Complete
As you will recall, in May 2005 SafeGuard Health Plans, Inc. acquired SmileSaversm Dental & Vision and on April 9, 2007 we completed the final steps in the integration of the two companies. We’ve put together this newsletter to provide you with information about the transition.
We value your continued participation in the SmileSaver programs and hope you are pleased with the support and service we provide to both you and your clients. Be assured that you will receive no less now that we've completed the transition … the SafeGuard organization is looking forward to working with you and your clients to ensure you have everything you need to address your administrative and benefit needs.

Important Information …
New group sales. To obtain quotes for new SmileSaver group products, please contact Dental Alternatives Insurance Services, Inc. (“DAIS”). DAIS will market the SmileSaver group products exclusively throughout California and can be reached at 800.445.8119. Or go online at www.gotodais.com to learn more.

New individual sales. If you have previously sold SmileSaver individual plans through a General Agent, there is no change to that process. Continue to submit sales as you have in the past. If you are interested in selling individual SmileSaver products for the first time, please call our Broker Services Department at 800.204.0463. They will be happy to provide you with the information you need to begin quoting.

New plan documents. The new plan documents have the SafeGuard logo but the benefits have not changed. The plan schedules, Evidence of Coverage, privacy notice, and enrollment form will be provided in a booklet (“Enrollment Kit”) to make the enrollment process more efficient.

ID cards. New ID cards will not be issued; your enrolled employees will be able to use their existing card to access care after this transition.

Billing & Commission. Your clients’ May 2007 statements were sent on March 25 with a newsletter similar to this one. There was no billing statement mailed during the month of April 2007 and the June 2007 statement will be mailed the first week of June. Due to this rescheduling, there will be approximately 60 days between the mailing of the May and June statements.
In the past, group billing statements were issued approximately five weeks in advance of the month of coverage. After June 2007, statements will be sent the first week of the month of coverage, allowing your clients to make up-to-date eligibility changes. Payment will be due upon receipt of the billing statement and should be sent to SafeGuard at PO Box 30910 – Laguna Hills, CA 92654-0910.
The change in the billing cycle will affect the commission statements due to the 60-day lag between the mailing of group billing statements. Commission statements and checks will still be mailed in the first week of the month for commissions earned in the previous month.

The website. The SmileSaver website at www.smilesaver.com has been redirected to this SafeGuard website (www.safeguard.net). Addresses and telephone number changes, etc. are listed below.
Your clients and their enrolled employees now have access to their accounts through SafeGuard’s interactive website. Clients can update eligibility, order plan materials, and review their monthly statements … all through the Internet! Enrolled members can change providers, order ID cards or email our Customer Service Department. Members may register online on this site by clicking on the "Login" button; if your clients would like to use this new service, ask them to contact their Account Manager (numbers listed below).

No member communications will be sent regarding this transition. It is important that your clients communicate any relevant information to their enrolled employees. Members who access the old website will be redirected to a Members’ page similar to this for pertinent information. If groups or members do not have web access, call or email your Account Manager for a hard copy of the information.
